Indeed, a key issue with low-cost or homemade lithium-ion batteries is the absence of battery management circuitry. This crucial component prevents overcharging, a significant risk factor for these batteries, especially if paired with an incorrect charger. Without this circuitry, there is an elevated risk of overheating, which can lead to battery failure or even fire, posing a significant safety risk in communal living spaces like condominiums.
Furthermore, these low-cost or homemade batteries often use non-proprietary charging plugs, which makes it all too easy for them to be inadvertently connected to a household charger or power supply. This mistake can result in improper charging rates or methods, further compounding the risk of dangerous malfunctions.
Example of dangerous Lithium-ion Battery Charger with generic DC type charge plug can be easily mistaken for household chargers.
At OHM Electric Bikes, we firmly believe in the safety of lithium-ion batteries, provided two fundamental conditions are met: the use of certified batteries and the use of proper chargers designed for those batteries. Our commitment to these standards is unwavering, as they form the cornerstone of our product safety assurance.
To elaborate, certification of lithium-ion batteries, such as the UL certification or TUV certification, indicates that the batteries have undergone rigorous testing for safety and performance under various conditions. These tests assess the batteries' responses to extreme temperatures, impact, overcharging, and short circuiting, among other stress scenarios. By adhering to batteries that meet these standards, we are ensuring that the inherent risks are significantly minimized.
Furthermore, the use of proper chargers is equally vital. Chargers specifically designed to match the battery's chemistry and voltage requirements prevent overcharging and overheating, two primary risks that could lead to battery failures. It is the synergy between certified batteries and their appropriate chargers that creates a safe and reliable energy ecosystem for powering e-bikes and e-scooters.
Example of safe Lithium-ion Battery charger with proprietary charging plug that can only charge its specifically designed battery.
Lithium-ion batteries are not predisposed to catch fire randomly. The primary scenarios that could lead to a battery fire involve overcharging or physical damage that leads to the internal fluid leaking out. Both of these situations are preventable with proper care and handling. Overcharging risk can be mitigated by using the charger that is specifically designed for and provided with the battery, as well as adhering to manufacturer instructions. Physical damage is a risk for any battery, and thus, proper storage and handling are key.
We recognize the potential concerns of residents and strata councils regarding fire safety. To address this, we advocate for broader educational initiatives aimed at both end-users and housing administrators. Users must understand the importance of using only certified batteries and chargers and following the manufacturer's guidelines for care and storage. Concurrently, strata councils could consider guidelines that allow the safe storage of e-bikes and e-scooters, leveraging the expertise from industry professionals and fire safety experts.
While the apprehensions about the safety of storing e-bikes and e-scooters in residential settings are understandable, it is essential to acknowledge that when operated and stored correctly, with certified batteries and appropriate chargers, the risks are greatly mitigated. Let's work together towards informed regulations and practices that ensure safety without unduly restricting the adoption of sustainable transportation options like e-bikes and e-scooters.

This passion, intrinsic to their mission, molds their electric bikes into companions that effortlessly integrate into and elevate daily commutes and adventurous escapades alike.
Venturing Beyond Established Designs
While the e-bike segment is oft flooded with designs that replicate traditional frameworks, OHM stands in a league of its own with defiance towards the ordinary. The OHM team observed that the conventional route typically includes retrofitting existing designs to house electric systems. "This philosophy doesn't resonate with us," Michael states. Opting for revolutionary innovation over following the herd, OHM bikes are conceived from a blank slate, every curve and component meticulously thought out from inception.
"Our aim was to engineer a frame that’s completely designed with purpose from scratch. Our bikes bear a touch more utility and comfort in their architectural DNA," explains Michael. This dedication transcends superficial style, placing utility and comfort at the core of the riding experience.

This belief in tailored solutions ensures OHM doesn't deliver a monolithic product but one that resonates with and adapts to every unique rider.
Eyes on the Horizon: Perpetual Innovation in Motion
The story of OHM is not static; it's an ongoing narrative of elevation and advancement. "We're constantly critiquing our current models, envisaging what could enhance the next iteration," stresses Michael. This anticipation of tomorrow's needs signals that the OHM experience, vibrant today, is set to become even more electrifying in the future.

]]>Safety as a Priority
For many potential e-bike buyers, safety is a chief concern. With increasing reports of accidents and product recalls in the industry, consumers are justifiably cautious. OHM Electric Bikes set themselves apart by ensuring that each model meets the highest safety criteria. TÜV certification is a globally recognized standard that verifies a product has been rigorously tested and meets critical safety requirements for electrical systems and battery operation. These standards, including UL 2849, are designed to provide peace of mind to users through extensive evaluation and validation of the e-bike's design and manufacturing process.
Fire Safety and Electrical Integrity
One of the most cited dangers with electrically powered devices is the risk of fire, particularly related to battery technology. OHM's TÜV certification means their e-bikes' battery packs, wiring, and electrical components have been thoroughly tested for stability and safety. This includes assessing the risk of thermal runaway—a dangerous increase in temperature—ensuring that OHM Electric Bikes can be used with confidence in all conditions.
Beyond the Standards
While meeting UL 2849 standards in itself is notable, OHM goes the extra mile in terms of safety. Their e-bikes are engineered with a suite of safety features, including superior braking systems, puncture-resistant tires, and high-visibility lighting. These features contribute to a safer ride in all types of environments, which is particularly important for the unpredictable terrain and weather conditions many cyclists face.
Performance Meets Safety
Alongside the high safety standards, OHM Electric Bikes do not compromise on performance. With their reliable electric motors and state-of-the-art battery systems, OHM e-bikes offer a smooth and powerful ride that can tackle steep inclines and long distances. The ergonomic design and adjustable settings cater to the comfort of the rider, reinforcing that safety and enjoyment on an e-bike can coexist harmoniously.
Educating Riders for a Safer Future
OHM doesn't just stop at providing a safe product; they also advocate for educated ridership. Knowing how to handle your e-bike, understanding the electrical components, and taking proper care of the battery are all critical components of riding safety. OHM encourages riders to familiarize themselves with their e-bikes, taking advantage of resources and guidelines provided to maximize both safety and performance.
Environmentally Responsible and Safety Conscious
Sustainability is at the core of the e-bike movement, and OHM Electric Bikes uphold this principle not only through promoting zero-emission transportation but also by ensuring that safety considerations are paramount. By choosing an OHM e-bike, riders are not just contributing to a healthier planet; they're investing in a mode of transportation that’s built to keep them safe on every journey.
Final Thoughts
In an era where mobility needs to be as safe as it is sustainable, OHM Electric Bikes are leading by example. Their commitment to quality and safety through TÜV certification and adherence to UL 2849 standards is setting a new benchmark in the e-bike industry—one that places the well-being of riders and the environment at the forefront. Minimizing Carbon Footprints
Transportation is a major contributor to greenhouse gas emissions, and the Pacific Northwest is committed to cutting its carbon output. E-bikes have emerged as champions of clean commuting, providing an eco-friendly alternative to automobiles. By swapping car rides for e-bike journeys, residents can enjoy the thrill of the open road without the pollution. With electric assist, these bikes give riders the extra push they need, making them a practical choice for both short errands and longer commutes.
The Health Aspect
E-biking strikes a unique balance between convenience and physical activity, which is particularly appealing in the health-conscious Pacific Northwest. Riding an e-bike still requires pedaling, which means it's an effective workout. However, the adjustable assistance can take the edge off strenuous hills and long distances. This accessibility encourages more people to embrace biking as a regular form of transportation, contributing to a healthier population and a decrease in sedentary lifestyles.
Navigating the Terrain and Weather
The Pacific Northwest is known for its varied topography and unpredictable weather patterns. E-bikes are particularly adept at handling this. Their electric motors help riders conquer steep inclines prevalent in cities like Seattle and Portland, making for a less daunting and more enjoyable commute. Moreover, features like thicker tires and heightened torque can help manage both the slick streets during a rainstorm and the gravel paths of rural trails.
Economic Savings and Incentives
The cost of car ownership and maintenance can be a significant drain on personal finances. E-bikes, however, offer an economically savvy alternative. They require less upkeep, and charging their batteries is a fraction of the cost of fueling a car's tank. Additionally, many Pacific Northwest states offer incentives for choosing sustainable transportation options, further reducing the financial impact of going green.
Community and Infrastructure
The Pacific Northwest boasts a strong biking culture with a supportive community and expanding infrastructure. Cities are increasingly adapting their roads to accommodate cyclists, ensuring safer and more comfortable rides. Bike lanes, parking racks, and traffic signs for cyclists are becoming the norm, and the community itself celebrates cycling through events and group rides. This culture positions e-bikes as a choice that's both practical and supported by local initiatives.
Environmental Harmony
Residents of the Pacific Northwest are often drawn to the area for its natural beauty. E-bikes represent a harmonious balance between modern living and environmental preservation. With their quiet operation, they maintain the region's tranquility, reducing noise pollution and allowing the sounds of nature to take prominence.
A Sustainable Path Forward
E-bikes are a testament to the Pacific Northwest's dedication to innovation in sustainability. They stand as an example of how green technology can not only preserve the environment but enhance our daily lives. As more people in this region adopt e-bikes as their preferred mode of transportation, we move closer to a future that values both our planet's health and our own.
The People's Pedal Power
For Pacific Northwest residents, the e-bike is more than just a mode of transportation; it's a statement of values and a commitment to a greener, healthier future. Whether you're a seasoned cyclist or a commuter looking for an eco-friendly alternative, e-bikes in the Pacific Northwest offer an array of benefits that extend well beyond the individual. So, plug in, power up, and join the ranks of those who are pedaling towards a better tomorrow.
General Inspection and Cleaning
Keeping your e-bike clean is not just about aesthetics; it's about performance too. Dirt and grit can wear down components over time, leading to costly repairs. Regularly wipe down your bike's frame and inspect it for any signs of damage. Use a soft brush or sponge to clean the hard-to-reach areas. Additionally, clean the chain, gears, and all moving parts with a degreaser and re-lubricate them after every thorough wash.
Battery Care
The battery is the heart of your e-bike, and proper care can significantly extend its life. Always follow the manufacturer's guidelines for charging and storing the battery. Avoid extreme temperatures, as both heat and cold can negatively impact the battery's performance and lifespan. Regularly clean the battery contacts with a dry cloth to ensure a good connection to the bike.
Tire Maintenance
Check your tires before each ride for proper inflation. Riding with under-inflated tires can reduce your range, make pedaling harder, and increase the risk of flats. Consult your e-bike manual for the recommended tire pressure. Rotate your tires periodically for even wear, and replace them when you see signs of excessive wear or damage.
Brake System
E-bike brakes are subject to more wear and tear due to the increased speeds and heavier weights of the bikes. Check your brakes regularly to ensure they're engaging and releasing properly. Look for wear on the brake pads and listen for any unusual noises when braking, which could indicate that it's time to replace the pads or get a professional tune-up.
Drivetrain Care
The drivetrain includes the pedals, chain, chainring, derailleur, and rear wheel cassette. These components can collect dirt and debris, leading to wear and inefficiency. Clean and lubricate the chain regularly, check for any loose parts, and make sure the derailleur is adjusted correctly for smooth shifting. If you’re unsure how to do this, consult a professional mechanic.
Firmware Updates
Many modern e-bikes come with firmware that can be updated to improve performance and fix bugs. Check with your manufacturer to see if there are any updates available for your model and follow their instructions on how to install them.
Regular Professional Tune-Ups
Even if you’re diligent about basic maintenance, it's a good idea to bring your e-bike to a professional for a thorough check-up at least once a year. A professional mechanic can spot potential issues that you may not see, perform complicated repairs, and keep your e-bike in top riding condition.
Storage Tips
If you're not riding your e-bike for extended periods, store it properly to prevent damage. Keep it in a dry place, away from extreme temperatures. If possible, remove the battery and store it separately at room temperature. Make sure to charge the battery at least once every few months during storage to keep it healthy.
Final Thoughts
Regular maintenance is key to keeping your e-bike riding smoothly and extending its lifespan. Take the time to perform simple checks and cleanings after each ride, and don't hesitate to consult professionals when needed. With the right care, your e-bike will continue to be a reliable and enjoyable mode of transportation for many miles to come. Remember, a well-maintained e-bike is not just a pleasure to ride but also a safer one. OHM Factory Store is a full-service repair shop for E-bikes. Book your service today.

]]>As a potential buyer, understanding the key distinctions between value and price is essential for making an informed decision that aligns with your riding needs and budget. Here’s what you need to know:
Value: The Holistic Measure
Value is a comprehensive measure that extends beyond the initial purchase price. It encompasses the quality, performance, durability, after-sales service, and overall user satisfaction associated with an e-bike. When evaluating value, consider the following factors:
Price: The Immediate Cost
Price is the upfront cost you pay upon purchasing your e-bike. It's a crucial consideration, especially for budget-conscious consumers, but it should not be the sole deciding factor. When looking at the price, assess whether it’s reflective of the e-bike's overall quality and what you’re obtaining in return for the investment.
Lower-priced e-bikes may be tempting, but they could potentially lead to higher costs down the line due to repairs, replacements, or reduced lifespan. Conversely, higher-priced models might provide better value through longevity, reduced maintenance needs, higher performance, and a more enjoyable riding experience.
Finding the Balance: Value for Money
The best approach is finding a balance between value and price – this is known as getting the "value for money." To find an e-bike that fits this bill, take the following steps:
Conclusion
In the world of e-biking, both value and price are important elements that should be weighed carefully. While it’s important not to overextend financially, investing in a high-value e-bike can provide a richer riding experience, enhanced satisfaction, and, ultimately, a better return on investment. Take the time to explore the market, test ride, and find the e-bike that offers the best balance of quality, performance, and price to suit your individual needs. Connect with the e-bike experts at OHM, and they'll help you find the perfect ride tailored just for you.

Responding to the Wrench Symbol
When the wrench symbol appears, it's time to schedule a service appointment. This could involve a routine check-up, adjustments, or even a software update. Regular servicing helps prevent unexpected issues and keeps your bike running like a well-oiled machine.

First and foremost, let’s talk about the price difference between entry level and high-end suspension forks. High-end suspension forks are typically much more expensive than entry level forks. This is largely due to the higher quality construction and materials used for the premium forks. Generally speaking, entry level forks are made of lower grade aluminum, while high-end forks are made of higher grade aluminum or even carbon fiber. This means that high-end forks tend to be much lighter and stiffer than entry level forks, which can be beneficial if you’re looking for a more responsive ride.
The next major difference between entry level and high-end suspension forks is the level of adjustability. Generally speaking, entry level forks have fewer adjustments than high-end forks. Entry level forks typically only have the ability to adjust the preload, while high-end forks often have the ability to adjust the rebound, compression, and preload. This adjustability can make a big difference in the ride, as it allows you to customize the fork to your weight and riding style.
Finally, let’s talk about the performance of entry level and high-end suspension forks. Generally speaking, entry level forks tend to be less reliable and less responsive than premium forks. This is due to the lower quality construction and materials used in entry level forks. Additionally, entry level forks tend to have shorter travel distances than premium forks, which can limit your ability to tackle bigger obstacles. On the other hand, high-end forks are much more reliable and responsive, and they often have longer travel distances. This makes them better suited for tackling bigger obstacles.
As you can see, there are many differences between entry level and high-end suspension forks. Entry level forks are typically cheaper and have fewer adjustments, but they also tend to be less reliable and have shorter travel distances. On the other hand, high-end forks are more expensive and have more adjustments, but they are also more reliable and have longer travel distances. Ultimately, the decision between entry level and high-end suspension forks comes down to your riding style, budget, and preference.
]]>First and foremost, it is important to read the manufacturer’s instructions and follow their recommended service intervals. Different e-bike manufacturers have different service intervals, and it is important to follow their specific recommendations. Not following the manufacturer’s instructions can lead to serious damage to the bike, so it is always important to stay up to date on the recommended service intervals.
In general, it is recommended to service your electric bike every 1,000km or 6 months, whichever comes first. This will ensure that all components are in good working condition and that any wear and tear is addressed in a timely manner. Depending on the type of terrain you ride on, this interval might need to be adjusted accordingly. For instance, if you ride on rough terrain, you may need to service your e-bike more often than if you ride on flat surfaces.
In addition to the recommended service intervals, there are also some basic maintenance tasks that should be done on a regular basis. This includes checking the brakes, checking the tire pressure, and lubricating any moving parts. It is also important to check the battery regularly to ensure it is operating at peak performance.
In addition to regular maintenance and service, it is also important to keep an eye out for any signs of wear and tear on the bike. This can include loose or corroded components, or abnormal wear on the tires. If any of these issues are noticed, it is important to address them immediately to prevent any further damage or wear.
Finally, it is important to note that electric bikes require more frequent servicing than traditional bikes due to their increased complexity. It is important to stay current on service intervals and be aware of any signs of wear and tear on the bike. This will help to ensure that your electric bike remains in good working condition and is able to provide years of reliable and enjoyable riding.
Here's the recommended service intervals for OHM Electric Bikes:
You should be getting your bike tuned every 6 months, or every 1,000km of riding – whichever of those comes first.
What exactly needs servicing?
Remember that your e-bike is also a mechanical creature. Most of the maintenance required is for the drivetrain (chain and gears) and for the brakes.

The BMS is a complex system that consists of hardware and software. The hardware is typically composed of a battery controller, a communications interface, various sensors, and a power control module. The software component is responsible for monitoring the performance of the battery and for communicating with the hardware components to ensure that the battery is protected from potential damage due to overcharging & over-discharging, or extreme temperatures.
The BMS monitors the performance of the battery and its individual cells, providing real-time data regarding the battery’s temperature, voltage, current, and other parameters. This data is used to determine the battery’s health and performance and can be used to modify the charging and discharging parameters to ensure that the battery is operating within a safe range.
The BMS is also responsible for isolating any cells that are underperforming or overcharging, preventing them from damaging the rest of the battery. This is done by cutting off the power to the cell and preventing it from receiving any further charge or discharge.
The BMS also plays an important role in the overall safety of the system. By providing real-time data, it can detect and alert the user of any potential faults, allowing them to take appropriate action to prevent a potentially dangerous situation.
A BMS adds approx $20 to the cost of your e-bike battery. However, tragically some ebike batteries do not use BMS in the battery to save cost.
In addition, some e-bikes use generic charger plugs such as DC plug which is also common on many household chargers. If the person uses different charger other than the original charger provided with the battery, they risk over charging the battery which could lead to battery overheating.
In conclusion, a BMS is an essential component of any system that utilizes lithium-ion batteries. It is responsible for monitoring and controlling the performance of the battery, ensuring that the cells are charged and discharged safely, and providing accurate and reliable data regarding the current state of the battery. Without a BMS, the performance and safety of any lithium-ion battery system would be severely compromised.

One of the main advantages of hydroforming is that it requires less material than traditional forming methods. This reduces the weight of the frame, making it easier for the rider to maneuver and handle. It also allows for thinner walls, which can increase frame stiffness and improve the overall performance of the bike.
Hydroforming also allows for the creation of complex shapes that would be impossible with traditional forming techniques. This means that the frame can be designed to have unique features that enhance ride comfort and performance. For example tubes can be shaped so that batteries can be integrated inside the frame.
Additionally, the design can be tailored to maximize strength and stiffness while minimizing weight, giving riders a light, strong and durable frame.
Furthermore, hydroforming is a cost-effective manufacturing technique. The process is faster and more efficient than traditional methods, reducing production costs and allowing companies to pass on the savings to the consumer.
Hydroforming is an ideal option for electric bike frames due to its lightweight, cost-effective, and complex design capabilities. It is no wonder that this process has become increasingly popular in the manufacturing of electric bike frames.
OHM is committed to crafting the highest-quality frames using the latest hydroforming technology to ensure riders an unparalleled ride experience. OHM frames are designed to meet the needs of all riders, from the casual commuter to the most demanding off-road enthusiast.

First, clean your electric bicycle thoroughly. Remove all dirt and debris from the frame, and use a biodegradable bike cleaner and water to clean the tires and other components. Once it’s completely dry, apply a light coating of lubricant to all moving parts. This will help protect them from corrosion during the winter months.
Next, store your electric bicycle in a dry area. Temperatures in garages and sheds can fluctuate, so make sure to choose a location that will remain relatively steady. If possible, keep the bicycle in a protective cover. This will help keep out moisture and dust, which can damage the components.
Finally, if your electric bike has a removable battery, make sure to remove it from the frame and store it in a cool, dry place. Keeping the battery at room temperature will help preserve its life and reduce the risk of critical discharge. Make sure to charge the battery at least once every three months, as this will help maintain its performance.
By following these tips, you can ensure that your electric bicycle is in great condition when the weather warms up and you’re ready to ride again. Have a great winter and stay safe!

Riding your OHM is a fun way to get in shape and improve overall health. It is easy to fit it into a daily routing by riding to shops, parks, school, or work. Because it’s fun and easy you more likely to do it often!
It's that time of year again. The leaves are changing color, the air is getting crisp, and the days are getting shorter. But that doesn't mean you have to hang up your bike for the season. In fact, with a little preparation, you can keep on riding all fall long—and an ebike can make it even easier.
Here are a few tips to help you keep pedaling through the autumn months:
Layer up
When the weather starts to turn, make sure you have the right gear to keep you warm. Dress in layers so you can adjust as the temperature changes throughout the day. And don't forget to protect your hands, feet, and head—these are the areas that are most likely to get cold. Gloves are a must to keep your fingers from freezing, and a thermal liner under your helmet will help keep your head warm.
Stay visible
As the days grow shorter and the mornings more misty, it's important to be extra cautious when riding your bike. Make sure you can be seen by cars, and take extra precautions by wearing bright, reflective clothing. Before each ride, use your headlight and taillight. But also check that they are clean, functional, visible, and secure.
Maintain your bike
As the weather changes and the leaves begin to fall, you'll want to make sure your ebike chain is well-lubricated. The dry air can cause the chain to dry out faster than usual, making it more susceptible to damage. Keep an eye on it and make sure to lubricate it regularly to keep it in good condition.
Fall is a great time to get outside and enjoy the cooler weather on your bike. But as the days get shorter, it can be harder to find time to ride. An ebike can help you get in some extra rides this fall by making it easier to get out and about.
If you're looking for a way to keep riding all fall, an ebike is a great option. With an ebike, you can get around town easily, ride on trails, and even commute to work. Plus, you can get in some extra rides without having to worry about the shorter days.

Many factories in China and Taiwan, where the majority of bicycles are made, were shut down at the start of the pandemic. This caused a backlog of orders and a shortage of bikes globally. The situation has been exacerbated by a surge in raw material prices, as well as shipping costs which have more than doubled in some cases.
The result is that many companies are struggling to meet the demand for bikes, and there are widespread delays in orders. We are seeing this here at OHM, where we have had to turn away customers due to lack of stock. Lead times for critical e-bike components have increased from 4 months to 18 months.
The good news is that factories are now starting to reopen, and we are seeing some relief in the supply chain. However, it will take some time for the situation to return to normal. In the meantime, we appreciate your patience and understanding as we overcome these supply chain challenges.
]]>Which bike is right for you? It all depends on your budget and what you need the bike for.
When you're looking at e-bikes, it's important to remember that not all models are created equal. There are a number of factors that can set a high-end e-bike apart from an inexpensive one, including materials, manufacturing, and customization.
]]>When you're looking at e-bikes, it's important to remember that not all models are created equal. There are a number of factors that can set a high-end e-bike apart from an inexpensive one, including materials, manufacturing, and customization.
When it comes to bikes, you really do get what you pay for. The more expensive models are usually made with lighter and stronger materials, which makes for a smoother, more enjoyable ride. They also tend to have more features that can make your ride safer and more comfortable, like suspension systems to absorb bumps in the road and better brakes for stopping power. If you're planning on doing any serious biking, it's worth it to invest in a quality bike.
The first thing to consider is the frame. The frame is the heart of the e-bike, and it's what supports the rider. A cheap bike is likely to have a lower-quality frame with poor welds and poor craftsmanship. A more expensive bike will have a better-quality frame with smooth welding and precise machining process.
The next thing to consider is the components. The components are the parts that make the bike move, including the pedals, chain, gears, and brakes. An inexpensive bike is likely to have lower-quality components that are more likely to break or wear out over time. A more expensive e-bike will have higher-quality components that are less likely to break or wear out over time.
Finally, consider the features. An inexpensive e-bike is likely to have fewer features, such as suspension or a water bottle holder. A more expensive bike is likely to have more features, such as suspension or a water bottle holder.
If you're looking to get the most out of your riding experience, you'll want to invest in a high-quality, expensive bike. These bikes often offer more customization options in terms of fit and performance, so you can tailor your ride to your specific needs. However, without doing your research or getting some help from an expert, you could end up with a bike that doesn't ride as well as it should.
The Frame
The entry level e-bike you're eyeing up may look like a great deal, but be warned: many of these e-bikes the frames are using old, outdated designs. This can make them quite uncomfortable to ride, and of lower build quality than you might expect.
As you move up to even higher tiers of bikes, you will start to encounter frame with hydroformed aluminum. These materials generally offer stronger, stiffer frames with drastically lower weight, which improves the overall efficiency and comfort of the ride.
Suspension
Inexpensive e-bikes typically rely on steel-coil springs, which can be adjusted by rotating them in threaded collars near the mount. This affects the bike's ride, as a spring that can't rebound quickly enough over small bumps can change the bike's geometry and lead to a rougher ride.
Higher-end models usually have air-spring shocks with hydraulic damping. A sealed chamber of air surrounds a hydraulic piston with valves that control how much oil can pass through. Air shocks are lighter and provide more tuning options. If you plan on riding uneven terrain, you may want more squish to help absorb the impact.
Drivetrain
Most bikes use a similar system when it comes to shifting gears. This system includes a spring-loaded derailleur that is pulled by a cable. The cable either pulls or releases the spring, which is attached to the derailleur. This movement then shifts the chain. This system has been used for over 70 years.
Inexpensive chains are often made with lesser quality parts that can result in inaccurate shifting, while expensive chains can boast precision bearings and other quality components that make for smoother and more consistent shifting. If you're looking for top performance, you'll need to be willing to spend a bit more.
The difference in quality is evident as soon as you start pedaling. A cheap bike will feel harsh, with each pedal stroke sending a jolt through your body. A higher-end bike will feel smoother and more efficient, helping you go faster with less effort.
Brakes
Mechanical disc brakes are a traditional type of disc brake, and they are what you probably think of when you envision a bicycle brake. They have two pads on either side that press into the brake disc in order to stop the bike. The brake pads are activated by a cable that is connected to the handlebars. When you squeeze the handlebars, the cable pulls on the brake pads, causing them to push against the brake rotor and slow the bike down.
Hydraulic disc brakes, by comparison, use hydraulic fluid such as mineral oil inside the brake line. When the brake lever is squeezed, the piston inside the master cylinder moves and forces brake fluid through the system towards the brake calliper. The brake calliper contains pistons that push the brake pads into the disc rotor, slowing the rotation of the rotor and wheel.
Hydraulic disc brakes offer over double the braking power compared to mechanic disc brakes. Hydraulic disc brakes offer the most stopping power of any e-bike brake system, so if you're looking for the best stopping power possible, you'll want to choose a hydraulic disc brake over a mechanical disc brake.
In the end, it really comes down to what you’re looking for in a bike. If you just need something to get from point A to point B, an inexpensive e-bike might do the trick. But if you’re looking for something to take on more challenging terrain or longer rides, you’re going to want to spend a little more to get an e-bike that can really handle it.

About Lithium-Ion batteries
Pioneering work of the lithium battery began in the early 1900s. Because of the inherent instability of lithium metal, particularly during charging, research switched to a non-metallic solution using lithium ions. Sony filed for an international patent and launched the first Li -ion battery in 1991. Lithium is the lightest of all metals and has the greatest electrochemical potential, providing the largest specific energy per mass. With cost reductions, increased specific energy and the absence of toxic material paved the way for, Li-ion to become the most universally accepted battery used in all kinds of portable applications. It is used in everything from satellites to computers, mobile phones to watches, as well as electric cars and electric bikes.
Advantages of Lithium-Ion battery technology
Compared to older generations of battery technology, the Li-ion rechargeable battery provides the most cutting-edge technology on the market for electric bikes.
The advantages are:
OHM’s Electric Bike Battery and Performance
Understand an Electric Bike Performance and its relation to your battery
Your OHM Electric Bike battery is built to be simple and straightforward. This is only feasible thanks to a combination of skilled engineering and innovative technologies. Batteries are a complicated technology, and a lot of factors can influence battery performance. Your OHM battery will slowly lose maximum available range over years of use providing reliable battery capacity for the average rider.
Our batteries are rated for 1000 charge cycles and will last most five or more years for regular riders, at which point it will retain 60% of the original capacity after 1000 charge cycles. New batteries are available for replacement.
High Level Water-Resistant Performance
OHM batteries and chargers are IPX5 water-resistant, so you don’t need to bring in your batteries indoors to recharge. They can be charged outside on your bike. This is of great benefit for riders who want to boost their range while shopping or meeting friends for a meal.
Reliable-Low-Temperature Battery Performance
OHM batteries perform at near-peak capacity in cold temperatures usage- 0 C.
Maximizing Battery Performance
We always want to make sure we have optimum performance with our electric bikes.
Here are some simple ways to get the most range out of your OHM’s battery, follow these tips.
Follow these tips-ride farther and enjoy maximum range with your OHM Electric Bike.
Maximizing Battery Life
"Battery life" is the amount of time your bicycle runs before requiring a charge. "Battery lifespan" is a measure of time your battery lasts until it needs to be replaced.
Avoid extreme temperatures.
Your battery is designed to perform well in a wide range of ambient temperatures, with (16-22 C)/ (62- 72 F) as the ideal comfort zone. However, it's best to avoid exposing your bike battery to prolonged ambient temperatures higher than (35 C) 95 F, which can permanently reduce the longevity of the battery. As a result, your battery will not power your e-bike for as long on a given charge. Keeping your electric bike away from temperatures beyond 35 C/ 95 F is important. Lithium-ion performs well at elevated temperatures but prolonged exposure to heat reduces longevity.
Charging or storing the battery in a hot environment over 45 C may also lead to decreased longevity. If you operate your electric bike in an extremely cold environment, the battery's power will return to standard power capacity once the temperature returns to its usual operating range.
If your battery is in prolonged storage we recommend storing it at 60% charge and keeping it at an ambient temperature. Following these two main rules will provide a long health for your battery.
If you store your electric bike with a fully empty battery, it may go into a deep depletion state, making it unusable. When charging the battery, avoid keeping the battery plugged into the charger for longer than 24 hours. When the charge is complete, unplug the charger from the battery.
Ensure your battery is kept in a cool, dry location with a temperature of less than 32C (90F). Charge your battery to 60% every six months if you expect to store it for longer than six months if you expect to store it longer than that.
Bear in mind that when you adopt these governing principles you will no doubt increase the health and life of your electric bike’s battery. If you have any questions do not hesitate to reach out to us. We are more than happy to help!

Higher Raw Material Costs
The cost of OHM's raw materials is rising at an unprecedented rate. Steel, aluminum, and carbon fiber are all becoming more expensive to source. The price of aluminum has reached an all-time high, and supply is running low due to high demand from other industries. OHM is feeling the squeeze as costs continue to rise.
Shipping Bottlenecks
The impact of the shipping slowdown has been far-reaching. In the US, the cost of a new car has risen by an average of $1,400 because of the shortage of shipping containers. You may not have realized it, but the shipping slowdown has likely been affecting you in more ways than one.
Environmental Factors
There has been a noticeable lack of typhoons hitting the country over the past few years, which has had a positive effect on many aspects of life.
